Who are the People in YOUR Neighborhood?!
What is the nature of 'community' today - especially in regards to our urban, technological world? I would venture to say that most people I know are much closer to 20 people who live in different, widely-separated corners of the city than the people who physically live on the same block as them. Many people are closer to the people they workout with at the gym 4 times a week, to the people they see at the office in the cubicle beside them, or to the 30 friends they have on Facebook (no - I don't have a profile yet) than the people in their own neighborhood. So maybe our definition of "neighborhood" needs to change.
What, and where, do you think the most significant communities are today? And let's make it a little more specific... - what about at the U of A? What are the most significant things that bring groups of people or individuals together here?
