LET'S GET STARTED
28/02/08 12:32
HI Fellow Church-Plant-Interested-Persons!!
Well, we've been praying, dreaming, meeting, brainstorming, and planning... - and we still have much more of that to do...
But it's time to GET STARTED! We still have many more details (especially administrative ones) to sort-out as we build this new church community on campus, but there's nothing preventing us from starting to 'be the church' together on campus. In fact, I think that's exactly where this needs to start!
As we have talked about before, we don't just want to have a name, a place to meet, and a meeting time... - we want to be a real, grassroots-level COMMUNITY of people FOLLOWING CHRIST (who happen to use a name, meet in a specific place(s), and during a regular time). So, fellow Christ-followers, let's come together and start being that community!
On Tuesday March 4th, at 7:00 p.m., in the Arts & Convocation Hall Lounge we are going gather and enjoy community as a church on campus. You don't have to be 'signed-up' to come... - just come if you're interested! Here's what'll be 'on-tap':
Tuesday March 4th: "The Epic Church"
Welcome & Simple-Socially-Enhancing-Refreshments (to encourage the 'mingling' process :-)
Thematic Cultural Connection: Movie Clip
Intro to the Theme and Conversation: 'The Epic Church'
U of A Community Highlight
Break for more 'Simple-Socially-Enhancing-Refreshments'
"Your Chapter": Personal Testimonies from the Week
Engaging Sermonette on "The Epic Church"
Community Conversation (everyone gets to 'talk back'!)
Musical Worship & Response Time
Benediction and more 'Simple-Socially-Enhancing-Refreshments' (if you want :-)
That may seem like a lot of 'program', but don't get scared-off. We want to be organized when we gather so that we can be intentional in fulfilling our purpose as a community, but the idea is to keep as much of an organic community feel as possible.
If you come on Tuesday, you'll have an opportunity to be involved in shaping the character and direction of this community as we learn how to 'be the church' on campus. We just want to hang-out to get to know Christ and each other better.
I look forward to seeing you out!
